NFTY-PAR Junior Youth Kallah

December 4-6, 2015

JYK, Junior Youth Kallah, is a very special event, just for 6-8th graders. Its purpose is to introduce NFTY, the North American Federation of Temple Youth, to its future – you!

What does the weekend involve?
The weekend will be filled with various get-to-know-you, get-to-know-NFTY, and get-to-know-fellow-NFTYites programs, mixers, and chugim (club like activities), all geared toward helping the 6-8th graders get acquainted with NFTY.

We will participate in social action programming and hands-on projects. We’ll attend Shabbat services, written and led by NFTY teens (teens who are active in our NFTY region who are in grades 10th-12th) and song leaders, with the guidance of their youth advisor and clergy; participate in engaging mixers and programs that will expose the participants to the variety of regional events that NFTY offers for high schoolers; and conclude with an exciting evening social!

When do we get details about the event; finalized bus schedule, packing list, etc?
One week prior to the event, when registration closes, you'll receive an email from NFTY-PAR that includes the final bus schedule, arrival and departure times, packing lists, and more. For security reasons, we do not make the scheduling information public; however, if you'd like specifics in advance, please don't hesitate to contact us at and we are happy to share it with you privately!

What is NFTY-PAR?
The acronym stands for the North American Federation of Temple Youth – Pennsylvania Area Region. It is a youth group that brings together Reform Jewish teens from Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey, Delaware and part West Virginia.

We have weekend-long events about 6 times each year, which are, with the exception of JYK, open to high-school students only.

Who is supervising the event?
Each event is fully staffed by adult leaders (local youth group directors, NFTY alumni, and the NFTY-PAR Regional Advisor), but run by and for teens.

NFTY-PAR members, comprised of sophomores, juniors and seniors who have demonstrated strong leadership skills, creative programming, and a passion for creating a warm, welcoming environment for all members, prepare the programs with the goals of engaging the 6th, 7th and 8th grade participants, and showcasing the best parts of NFTY: making lifelong friends, and learning, living, and loving Judaism!

Where do the participants stay?
The participants will be sleeping by gender in the Camp Harlam winterized facilities. Every bunk will have a NFTY-PAR teen leader and an adult sleeping with the JYK participants.

Want more information?
For security reasons, we will not publish our event schedule or final bus schedule online; however, if you'd like more information, please don't hesitate to email, and we are happy to provide it to you privately!
